In Florida USA, the Leon County Schools (Tallahassee) public school district is switching its school bus fleet to natural gas, reports LNG World News. Leon County Schools has signed an agreement with Florida-based “nopetro” to build a natural gas fueling station for the district and share back royalties from private sales.
It also expects to cut fuel costs by up to 40%. With 14 CNG buses already in use, the $2.5million dollar project will help the school district transition a further 44 buses. The station is expected to be operational by August 2012. The district has communicated the reasons for its decision to go with CNG to the school community via an online video.
