At Spain’s National Transport Awards event, held in Madrid on January 17, Iveco was acclaimed with two awards for its natural gas vehicles – ‘Industrial Light Vehicle of the Year’ and ‘Truck of the Year’. The awards are conferred by Spanish editorial group Editec, which published specialised transportation journals Transporte 3 and Viajeros.
The winners of the annual awards are selected by more than 400 specialists from the freight and passenger transport sectors of all the autonomous communities, who responded favourably to the introduction of Iveco’s new Daily range and Stralis NP 460 in 2017.
The ” Light Industrial Vehicle of the Year” award went to Iveco for the Daily Blue Power range, for an “innovative Iveco proposal that offers a complete range of light vehicles with several alternatives that allow for urban transportation without concern for the various restrictions that already exist in cities.” This range includes the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered Daily Hi-Matic Natural Power. The new Daily also won the “International Van Of the Year 2018” award last November in Lyon.
The ‘ Truck of the Year’ award, for the IVECO Stralis NP 460, was based on the jury’s understanding that “natural gas is a really valid option for carrying national and long distance freight with this new IVECO truck”. The New Stralis NP 460 was recognised as the best choice in truck segments, with a full range, to perform the most demanding missions at all distances. This is also supported by the Low Carbon Truck of the Year 2017 award given last December in England.
The mono-fuel 460 HP truck with double LNG tank combines sustainability, performance, productivity with a range of up to 1,600 km and pure power, with a drastic reduction of 99% of particles in suspension and 60% NOx in comparison with the limits of the Euro VI standard; In addition, when working with biomethane, its CO 2 emissions are cut by 95%.
At the ceremony held in Madrid, Gaetano De Astis, director of brand IVECO for Spain and Portugal together with Filippo D’Amico, director of the business line’s light vehicle IVECO Spain, received the Light Industrial vehicle award from the hands of Marcos Basante, President of the International Association of transport by road (ASTIC). Federico Martín, vice president of the Spanish Confederation of Transport of Goods (CETM), was commissioned to deliver the Truck of the Year award to the Stralis NP 460, which was collected by Gaetano De Astis along with Africa Pardo, director of the heavy vehicle business line of IVECO Spain.
Gaetano De Astis said as part of his response, that “these awards recognize the brand’s commitment to sustainable transport.”
