The first distributor for the supply of C-LNG (compressed and liquefied natural gas) in Pesaro, a town on Italy’s Adriatic coast, has been opened. The facility is managed by Italian fuel supplier ACEMA ((Agenzia Carburanti E Materiale Agricolo) and marks Snam4Mobility’s first plant to supply liquefied gas.

With this plant, Pesaro will be able to test a new model of sustainable mobility based on natural gas, one of the best technologies available to reduce emissions and save on fuel, both for light vehicles (thanks to CNG) and for heavy vehicles (LNG).

Models of CNG and LNG vehicles were exhibited and refueled at the event, including the IVECO Stralis NP 460, which was awarded “Sustainable Truck of the Year 2019” at Ecomondo 2018 and is capable of a range of 1,600 km.

At the end of the refueling, Alessandro Oitana, Iveco’s Business Line Medium & Heavy Manager, said: “Only five years ago, Iveco was offering the market the first Stralis powered by natural gas. We started from a prototype to arrive today, to a number of almost 1,200 units sold . An ambitious project that offers us great satisfaction every day. […] What in the eyes of many was a visionary goal, today is reality.” (Reported by Vado e Torno Edizioni)

The new plant is able to supply LNG and CNG will also be able to bring gas to the existing service station located on a nearby motorway, which has been appropriately upgraded with shelter and distribution islands to supply compressed methane. Both plants will supply a particularly high performing CNG, which ensures greater autonomy and a quicker supply. Liquigas, a leader in Italy in the distribution of LNG for industrial and automotive use, will guarantee the supply of the product to ACEMA.

ACEMA has been managing fuel distribution and integrated services for service stations for over 70 years, while Snam4Mobility is Italy’s leading operator for g-mobility, sustainable mobility with natural gas and renewable gas (biomethane). The company currently has about 50 refueling plants under construction.

Natural gas, in both compressed and liquefied form, essentially eliminates particulate emissions and significantly reduces nitrogen oxide and carbon dioxide emissions, while also ensuring significant economic benefits for consumers.
