The Port of Shanghai, the world’s busiest container port, recently signed a contract with Sinotruk (Hong Kong) Limited for the purchase of 194 Liquefied Natural gas (LNG) -powered terminal tractors. The contract arose from a tender jointly raised by five carriers.
Sinotruk won the public tender at the end of 2015. The first batch of 131 terminal tractors has been delivered. Sinotruk and Shanghai Port organized a training courses for the drivers to introduce and familiarise them with the LNG aspects of the tractors.
Sinotruk MAN-technology terminal tractors now account for 61% of new trucks for the Shanghai Port market. Sinotruk and MAN Truck and Bus have partnered under a MAN licensing agreement since 2009.
