Clean Air Power, engine management systems developer for heavy duty vehicles based in north-west England, has received an order for 50 dual-fuel trucks from Sainsbury’s, the second largest chain of supermarkets in the United Kingdom.
The trucks will be fitted with Clean Air Power’s Genesis-EDGE system at its facility in Leyland, and delivered to Sainsbury’s during Q1 and early Q2 2014. The vehicles will form part of Sainsbury’s large UK distribution fleet which already includes 49 Genesis-EDGE trucks and 8 methane diesel installations following orders placed during 2012 and 2013.
John Pettitt, Chief Executive of Clean Air Power said: “This is a very significant order for our Genesis-EDGE system and will bring the number of Clean Air Power Dual-Fuel vehicles operating in Sainsburys’ UK distribution fleet to over 100. Following our recently announced orders for dual-fuel systems and components this latest order gives me further confidence that the Company is on-course to meet market expectation in 2014. The demand we are seeing for our products is being driven by the increased supply of vehicles available to retrofit as a result of the high level of late Euro 5 vehicle purchases made at the end of 2013.”
