Qingdao Expands Natural Gas Refueling Network

During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the city of Qingdao in the eastern Chinese province of Shandong plans to build a high-pressure pipe network for city gas distribution and a secondary high-pressure gas network to Central Jiaozhou Bay as part of the city’s goal to increase accessibility to natural gas. Included in the plan is a major extension of the city’s natural gas refueling network.

In view of the city’s natural gas in the primary energy consumption accounted for a low proportion of the problem, during which the city plans to focus on the construction of 10 major projects, from gas supply, use, pipe network, emergency reserves to promote natural gas applications. Plans include the promotion of natural gas fuelled land and marine transportation in the Qingdao areas of Houhai, Blue Silicon Valley (part of the Shandong Peninsula Marine Economic Zone), East Lee and elsewhere.

Projects include the dual-fuel conversion of 82 fishing vessels to LNG, an LNG/CNG filling station and 94 CNG filling stations (25 in Huangdao District, 30 in Laoshan and 39 along the north shore).

Construction of 10 major projects to promote natural gas applications, covering gas supply, gas use, pipeline network and emergency storage.

Plans to promote gas use in the regions of Houhai, Blue Silicon Valley, East Lee and others.
