Frosch GmbH, a new taxi company in St Gallen, Switzerland, has established its environmental credentials early by commencing business with five natural gas powered VW Passat EcoFuels fleet vehicles. The taxis will operate on compressed natural gas/biomethane (80:20) and will only switch to gasoline when the three under-floor cylinders are empty. The vehicles have an operating rage of 460 kms with natural gas and 900 kms using the full bi-fuel option. That said, Frosch has set itself the target of using natural gas only while striving for a “neutral ecological balance”. In May the VW Passat recently gained several awards as a participants in 2011 Michelin Bibendum.
