Nanjing Public Transportation (Group) Co., Ltd. (NPTC) in eastern China is seeking to procure 780 buses via a tender process. For the first time, the company request for proposals will include a large number of liquefied natural gas (LNG) buses, as the city aims for reduced emissions and better economy, as reported on chinabuses.com.

At this time there is no LNG refueling infrastructure but the city is said to be constructing an unspecified number of LNG/CNG filling stations. LNG buses are preferred to previously acquired CNG buses because of their increased range, up to 800 kms.

Bidding will apparently take place for four tenders, two of which pertain to LNG buses:

Lot: 250 12-meter-long LNG (liquefied natural gas) buses;

Lot: 100 LNG buses 10 meters long, 70 12-meter-long low-floor buses, 10 12-meter-long hybrid buses
