Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging Inc. (CCAAA) and UGI Utilities Inc., both of Pennsylvania, have joined forces to convert the agency’s fleet of 11 cargo vans to compressed natural gas (CNG). The vans, used for meals-on-wheels food deliveries, will be able to operate more economically and with reduced emissions while utilising domestic fuel supply, reports The Progress (news service).
Fuel will be supplied by UGI via a GreenLine Fuels-manufactured fueling station that will be located at the CCAAA meal preparation facility. Two vehicles have so far been converted to bi-fuel (gasoline/natural gas) operation; all vehicles should be converted within one year. Fuel savings of more than USD 2,500 per vehicle per annum are expected to be realized.
