Italy’s Lombardy Region has published a tender for the development of a regional network of vehicle refuelling stations supplying Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). The invitation to tender arises from a council resolution passed last December that approved a Department of Economic Development proposal to support LNG for road transportation.
The objective is to create an innovative low environmental impact fuel distribution network that is also effective for the supply of heavy transport vehicles, in particular for those that travel medium-long distance. The use of methane, even in liquid form, makes possible, compared to other products and in particular diesel fuel, a reduction in polluting emissions and fine particular matter (PM10) and nitrogen oxides (Nox).
The budget is set at EUR 2 million. The facility provides for a non-repayable grant equal to 50% of the expenses considered only eligible up to a maximum of € 200,000 for the realization of LNG supply systems, per project. Participants are limited to micro, small and medium enterprises with headquarters in Lombardy that are active in the distribution of fuels. The interventions must be completed within 18 months from the date of granting the regional contribution.
