At Pollutec 2016, held in Lyon two weeks ago, France’s principal gas distributor GRDF and Mercedes Benz France introduced their partnership to promote mobility solutions for Natural Gas for Vehicles, in particular for commercial vehicles and heavy vehicles in the transport and urban delivery sectors. Additionally, the partnership will seek to promote natural gas vehicles (NGVs) and fuel throughout the nation.
Natural gas and biomethane are becoming increasingly available throughout France and are recognised as able to make a significant contribution to France’s goal of reducing transport related emissions. Both parties to the agreement are keen to build on this by demonstrating the accessibility and affordability of NGVs. Commenting on the partnership, Jean-Marc Diss, CEO Trucks Mercedes Benz France said: “the DAIMLER group wants to develop this alternative in France by emphasizing that energy.”
Franck Wintenberger, Territories and Projects Director at Future GRDF added: “Developing CNG and bioCNG is to contribute to the emergence of a real and lasting response to daily mobility issues. This partnership with a leading player such as Mercedes Benz France will allow working together on a common goal to significantly reduce environmental impacts and provide competitive solutions to all professionals in the transport sector.”
