Public transportation company Francisco Larrea has introduced 5 new suburban buses with Scania chassis and bodywork by Castrosua, to the town of Moralzarzal, located in the Sierra de Guadarrama in the Community of Madrid, Spain. The 13m buses are equipped with compressed natural gas (CNG) technology.
The 5 commuter buses are Scania model K 320 IB 4X2 320 hp Euro 6 9-litre CNG engines. Such vehicles help reduce gas emissions, improving air quality. They are equipped with 55 reclining seats, plus the driver’s seat and center double doors with PMR among other features.
These buses will service Line 876 that runs from the city of Collado Villalba through Moralzarzal and north to El Boalo. They will have a significant environmental impact, reducing particulate emissions by 20%, emission of nitrogen oxide by 75% and noise pollution by 50%.
In total, there are now 70 units using Compressed Natural Gas serving in the long distance transportation of the Community of Madrid.
