Colombia’s Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism issued by Resolution 0957 on March 21, 2012, installing a new technical regulation that establishes minimum requirements to be met by compressed natural gas (CNG) conversion workshops and the manufacture, importation and marketing of converting equipment for vehicle use. To become effective 29 December 2012, the regulation’s primary objective is to improve safety provisions associated with natural gas vehicles.
The regulation demands compliance with technical requirements on performance and safety workshops, equipment and processes for conversion to CNG and prevent practices likely to mislead consumers.
The measure applies to workshops, conversion processes, maintenance and revisions, and equipment for use in Colombia. It covers conversions of vehicles (excluding motorcycles) to dedicated and bi-fuel CNG (and biomethane) operation.
