Orion Transit Buses, part of the Daimler Buses North America Group, has received an order from Central New York Regional Transport Authority (CNY Centro) for 62 Orion VII transit buses, 56 of which will be compressed natural gas powered (CNG). The buses are being built for operations in the city of Syracuse. Locally manufactured, these buses will help to support the over 500 jobs at the Orion production facility in Oriskany, N.Y.
The Orion VII transit buses will be delivered by the end of 2013 to CNY Centro.
“We are pleased that our local community continues to support its local bus manufacturer by buying buses built right here in Oneida County,” said Richard O. Ferguson, president and CEO of Orion Transit Buses. “Our relationship with CNY Centro continues to strengthen based on our quality products and services, and we are ecstatic that CENTRO has the confidence in Orion.”
The 3rd generation Orion VII buses are powered by Cummins ISL-G engines.
