Positive Outcomes for NGV Safety from UNECE Meeting

Under the umbrella of the UNECE’s Group of Experts on General Safety, which met in Geneva on 8-12th October 2018, a busy agenda of NGV activities across a wide variety of topics has been attended by NGV Global. The agenda included provisions for the testing of CNG cylinders (with mirror provisions for LNG tanks) and several new CNG/LNG technologies introduced to legitimize their use on vehicles. Read more »

CSA Group Releases New North American Standards for LNG Vehicle Dispensing Systems and Fuel System Components
CSA Group has published 18 new standards to support the safe deployment of liquefied natural gas (LNG) vehicles. This includes the LNG 3 series, which contain 17 standards covering LNG vehicle fuel system components and LNG 4.1 for vehicle dispensing systems. Read more »

Agility Fuel Solutions, a global provider of clean fuel solutions for medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles, is now certified to be compliant with the ISO 14001:2015 standard at its manufacturing facilities in Salisbury, North Carolina, USA and in Raufoss, Norway. CSA Issues Call for Participation – NGV 4.7, Automatic pressure operated valves for NG dispensing systems
Standards organization CSA Group is launching a project to develop a new Standard NGV 4.7, Automatic pressure operated valves for natural gas dispensing systems. To undertake this work, it is seeking additional experts to serve on this technical subcommittee, looking for interested stakeholders who will actively participate and contribute to the development of this important standard through CSA’s accredited standards development processes. NGV Global Leads New Work Under ISO’s SC41 for Gaseous Fuels
Work has commenced on the development of a completely new set of ISO standards intended to certify personnel involved in the Gaseous Fuels industry. The task belongs to WG 9, one of seven active Working Groups under ISO TC22/SC41 — Specific Aspects for Gaseous Fuels — the Technical Committee dealing specifically with all fuel systems and tasks related to the use of Gas as a fuel for road vehicles. CNG Cylinder Inspection Workshop Highlights Global Impact of Regulations
NGV Global held an informational workshop, “Guaranteeing Safety in CNG Vehicles: Inspections, Improvements and Innovations” on 30th April 2018 in conjunction with the ACT Conference in Long Beach California. More than 50 attendees participated to hear about and discuss the range of regulatory and practical issues associated with the cylinder inspection process to further improve NGV safety while also enhancing user convenience. Globally, natural gas mobility is an evolving industry that continues to thrive, expand and consolidate despite market challenges. Natural gas vehicles (NGV) operate in more than 80 countries and natural gas propulsion is taking vessels along inland waterways and across oceans. Regulations and standards are a vital component of this industry.
Such is the context in which several documents were tabled at the UNECE Group of Experts on General Safety (GRSG) meeting on 10-13 April 2018 in Geneva. NGV Global was in attendance to ensure the best interests of the worldwide natural gas for transportation industry were kept to the fore. Discussed were proposed changes to UNECE R.110 (CNG/LNG Vehicles) including CNG cylinder inspections, and expansion to applications for on-board vehicle appliances. Read more »
