Scan Inter Public Company Limited, a Thailand-based company engaged in natural gas industry, says SCN-CHO Cooperation signed a trade and maintenance hire contract for 489 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) air-conditioned buses with the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) on December 27, 2017.
The overall project’s value is 4,261 million THB (VAT included; USD 132.1 m) and is divided into 1,891 million THB (VAT included; USD 53.9 m) for the value of the buses and a 10 year period of hiring for the repair and maintenance at a value of 2,370 million THB.
The maintenance contract allows for about USD 29/unit/day per bus for the first five years and about USD 51 per/unit/day for the second five year period.
The unit price per bus is approximately USD 110,200.
According to Thai PBS, the first batch of 100 buses will be delivered before the end of March this year, with the balance of order being completed in May.
Suradech Taweesaengsakulthai, Cho Thavee Plc chief executive officer, reportedly said the buses will be imported from China and they will be equipped with some parts such as the gas tanks, gear and air-conditioners in Thailand.
The joint venture SCN-CHO Cooperation was co-founded by Scan Inter Public Company Limited and Cho Thavee Public Company Limited.
