Unprecedented NGV Display For ACT Expo

The emergence of natural gas as a dominant alternative fuel in the United States is well illustrated by the unprecedented display of more than 30 different natural gas vehicles (NGVs) — sedans, pick-up trucks, vans, medium and heavy duty trucks, buses and special purpose vehicles including a CNG powered fire truck, all available in the USA — planned for the Alternative Clean Transportation EXPO (ACT Expo) in Long Beach, California, from 4-6 May.

Tours will include -

  • Republic Services, where more than 40 CNG refuse trucks are fueled each night by a state-of-the-art time fill CNG refueling station.  Attendees will be walked through the CNG refueling station equipment and the benefits of time filling will be explained.
  • Clean Energy public access natural gas truck fueling station in the Port of Long Beach – the largest in the nation.  This facility provides daily fueling to hundreds of LNG powered port trucks.
  • City of Los Angeles North Central maintenance garage where particpants will be walked through the various modifications and upgrades that were required for indoor maintainance of heavy-duty LNG and CNG vehicles.
  • City of Los Angeles LNG/LCNG refueling station. The North Central station has four 15,000-gallon LNG fuel storage tanks, six LNG dispensers, two dual-hose CNG dispensers, and a high volume LCNG fuel system. It provides daily LNG fueling for the approximately 120 of the City’s 450 LNG refuse collection trucks and CNG for a variety of light, medium, and heavy duty vehicles.
  • Ryder Rancho Dominguez yard, where the first 70 natural gas trucks in Ryder’s Southern California truck rental and leasing operation will be launched. These first 70 trucks are part of a larger 202 unit order that has been funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and the California Energy Commission.
