Taxi Stockholm Recognised for Energy & Climate Initiatives

Taxi Stockholm’s commitment to ‘Clean Cars’, especially the decision to use biogas as the fuel of choice, has been recognised by Veckans Affarer (Business Weekly) and German energy company E.ON, as “Runner-Up” from a field of 400 nominations from the domestic market. The award recognises the most innovative and interesting solutions for energy efficiency, contributing to environment conservation and better business. For 2009, Taxi Stockholm will only buy biogas cabs. “Due to fuel price change and increased criticism of ethanol, that was an easy decision to take,” said Mikael Andersson, Taxi Stockholm CEO.

In May 2009, the company ordered 50 Volkswagen Passat EcoFuel NGT (natural gas technology), 100 Mercedes B 170 NGT and 200 Volvo V 70 2.5 FT Flexfuel. Volvo has incorporated the V 70 gas version into its production line and delivery will begin late in September of 2009.

Biogas, ethanol and hybrid cabs have officially received status ‘Clean Cars’ by the City, by the Road Administration and by Civil Aviation Authority’s, who grant access to the major Airports.
