Russian oil and gas company OJSC Rosneft and LLC Volkswagen Group Russia have signed an agreement aimed at the development of the compressed natural gas (CNG) market in Russia, as well as the CNG-powered vehicles market. Rosneft has also signed an agreement on scientific and technological cooperation with vehicle manufacturer KAMAZ Truck Sp. z o.o. to expand use of natural gas as motor fuel. Ford Expands Natural Gas Range in Sweden with C-MAX CNG
Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) drivers in Sweden have been presented another option with the launch of a new compact minivan. The Ford C-Max is able to operate on biomethane or natural gas and qualifies for the tougher clean car standards; operating on pure biomethane the C-Max carbon emissions will be as low as 29 g/km. Demand for NGVs Increases Despite Depressed German Automarket
Sales rise almost 60 percent. dena recommends extending tax reductions
In spite of a major decrease in the overall car sales figures in Germany, the demand for natural-gas powered vehicles increased almost 60 percent in the first quarter of 2013 compared with the same period in the previous year. This fact was highlighted by the Deutsche Energie-Agentur GmbH (dena) – the German Energy Agency – and the “Initiative for Natural-Gas-Based Mobility” based on the data reported recently by the German Federal Motor Transport Authority. Chongqing Hengtong Bus Co., Ltd is the successful tenderer for the supply of liquified natural gas (LNG) powered buses to the city of Anshun in Guizhou Province in China’s mid-west. The low-emission buses will enhance Anshun’s drive toward tourism excellence, improving the air quality and providing clean quiet transportation for commuters while reducing operating costs. Hengtong Bus will supply 43 12-metre Clean Energy LNG buses, model CKZ6126HN4. Delivery is planned for June.

Dongguan City Replaces Diesel Buses with LNG
Dongguan City bus company, in Guangdong province on the South China Sea coast, received 210 liquified natural gas (LNG) buses in March, all of which are now operating to enhance the city’s public transportation and the environment. 100 units of King Long XMQ6106G buses and 110 units of XMQ6931G delivered so far are components of a total order for 262 King Long LNG buses. Scania CNG Garbage Trucks Service Warsaw
In Warsaw, municipal waste collection and disposal company Miejskie Przedsiębiorstwo Oczyszczania (MPO) has taken delivery of 15 Scania garbage trucks powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). This is the first of two deliveries of Scania Model P310 for MPO, to fulfill an order for 27 trucks, reports cng.auto.pl, a CNG promotion organisation in Poland. The trucks have a CNG tank capacity of 640 litres, sufficient for approximately 400 km under normal driving conditions. The vehicles meet the city’s requirements for quiet operation with low emissions.
New Atlas-II Engine Designed for Natural Gas Engine Developers
Global multi-industry consultant Ricardo plc will launch it’s next generation Atlas-II, the latest high-speed version of Ricardo’s range of large, single cylinder research and development engines, at the 2013 CIMAC World Congress on Combustion Engine Technology next week in Shanghai. Westport Expects “Step Change” Growth for NG Engines in 2013
Westport Innovations Inc., developer and manufacturer of natural gas engines has delivered its 1Q Fiscal report with a clear message from David Demers, CEO of Westport. “We are expecting a step change in growth over the course of this year and remain confident the market for natural gas as a fuel in trucking is here and now – not five or ten years down the road.” The company maintains its revenue outlook for up to 30% year over year growth. California Grant Supports Dual-Fuel Product Development for HD Vehicles

Clean Air Power (CAP), developer of dual-fuel engine management software for heavy duty vehicles, has executed an agreement to receive a grant to support its development of a Genesis EDGE Dual-Fuel™ product for the important US market. CAP will receive approximately $2.6m between May 2013 and October 2014 to produce, demonstrate and refine a commercially viable Dual-Fuel product for the US market. Quantum Funded to Develop Low-Cost Natural Gas Engine for C3 to C7 Vehicles
Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide, Inc., developer and producer of natural gas storage systems, integration and vehicle system technologies, has been notified by the California Energy Commission’s (CEC) Public Interest Energy Research Program that Quantum’s proposal in response to the Program Opportunity Notice entitled Advanced Natural Gas Engine Research and Development for Class 3 through Class 7 Applications has been recommended for a $1 million grant award. Puldin Trans Service Ltd., authorised Iveco dealer in the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv, delivered 20 tractors model AT440S33T / P Stralis CNG (compressed natural gas) to logistics company Arena IT in March this year. Aston Martin will race a pioneering hybrid hydrogen car at the 41st ADAC Zurich 24 Hours of Nürburgring in May. The company claims the Hybrid Hydrogen Rapide S – based on it’s new four-door, four-seat sports car – will become the first hydrogen-powered car to compete in an international event as well as the first zero CO2 emissions sports car to complete a race pace lap at the Nürburgring 24-hour race. Mexico’s Tequila State Launches CNG Fleet and Filling Station

The Mexican State of Jalisco, internationally acknowledged as the home of the alcoholic beverage Tequila, is now also home to a new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) filling station and the State’s first fleet of CNG buses. At the inauguration of the station, Governor Jorge Aristóteles Sandoval Díaz introduced the Dina-manufactured model Linner G fleet of 50 new public transport units, which began operations this week between El Salto and Guadalajara, saying the buses will reduce air pollution by 90%. Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited (PVPL), headquartered in Pune and a 100% subsidiary of Piaggio & C. Spa of Italy, has brought to the Indian automotive marketplace a new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered three-wheeler, named the Ape (ah-pay) City. Available in CNG/LPG and petrol versions, the Ape City is fitted with a Piaggio 200cc 3-valve engine. The CNG three-wheeler is priced at 1.25 lakh (USD 2,300).
New Flyer Contracted to Supply up to 202 CNG Buses to Sun Metro
New Flyer Industries Inc. (New Flyer), manufacturer of heavy-duty transit buses in the United States and Canada, has been contracted by Sun Metro, of El Paso, Texas, to deliver up to 202 Xcelsior™ compressed natural gas (CNG) heavy-duty buses.
