Pennsylvania Approves Grants for Five Natural Gas Filling Stations

California Continues Funding for NGV Projects

CECThe California Energy Commission has approved funding for a number of projects that will support increased numbers of cleaner, alternative fuel vehicles on California roadways, thereby helping the state meet its climate change goals. The awards were made through the Commission’s Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology (ARFVT) Program, created by Assembly Bill 118. 2013-2014 funding priorities have also been set, with both programs including support for natural gas vehicle projects. The Florida House of Representatives on Thursday has approved a tax incentive package that provides incentives for vehicle operators in the State to embrace natural gas vehicles. According to the Energy and Utilities Sub-committee Summary Analysis, Bill H.B.579 “creates establishes a fuel tax structure for natural gas used as a motor fuel similar to that for diesel fuel beginning January 1, 2019, thereby exempting natural gas fuel from fuel taxes for five years.” Read more »

Clean Air Power (CAP), developer of dual-fuel engine management software for heavy duty vehicles, has executed an agreement to receive a grant to support its development of a Genesis EDGE Dual-Fuel™ product for the important US market. CAP will receive approximately $2.6m between May 2013 and October 2014 to produce, demonstrate and refine a commercially viable Dual-Fuel product for the US market. Quantum Funded to Develop Low-Cost Natural Gas Engine for C3 to C7 Vehicles

Egypt’s Cargas Gains Grant for CNG Conversions

Natural Gas Vehicles Company (Cargas), an affiliated company to the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum, has received a grant specifically for the construction and conversion of vehicles to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). The grant of EGP 5m (USD .725m) has come from Egypt’s Social Fund for Development (SFD) and is the 16th grant from the Fund. Read more »

British Columbia Fleets Receive Funding for Natural Gas Vehicles

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is stepping up its support of the Kazakh city of Almaty’s comprehensive reform to its public transportation system. EBRD and the city signed a loan agreement (January 30) for a senior 10-year US$ 39.3 million loan which will be used to buy up to 200 new CNG (compressed natural gas) buses.  Read more »

ADB Paves Way for More Natural Gas Buses in Urban PRC

More public buses with lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions will soon be deployed on the roads of major cities in the People’s Republic of China (PRC) as the Asian Development Bank (ADB) helps bus operators shift their fleets to cleaner fuel. ADB has earmarked $275 million for up to five top-tier financial leasing companies in PRC to finance leased buses that run on cleaner fuel – such as compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) – as well as electric and hybrid buses. €22.3M in EU Funding for VERBIO Technology

German company Vereinigte BioEnergie AG (VERBIO), an independent producer of biomethane for fuel, has been awarded funding for its biomethane technology in the Bioenergy category of the European Union’s New Entrance Reserve 300 (NER300) funding programme. VERBIO says its straw-based biomethane production project won out over projects submitted from all over Europe on the basis of its efficiency, innovation and sustainability. Pennsylvania DEP Opens Natural Gas Vehicle Grant Program

The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin accepting applications Dec. 1 for its Natural Gas Vehicle Grant program, which will provide up to $20 million over the next three years to help pay for the incremental purchase and conversion costs of heavy-duty natural gas fleet vehicles. The program, part of Act 13 announced mid-2012, is aimed at stimulating growth of the state’s natural gas vehicle (NGV) population. Read more »
