In the most recent meeting of “Foro Pro Clima Madrid†(Madrid Forum for Climate), held on April 14th in Madrid, a consortium of more than 35 major companies signed an agreement to incorporate eco-friendly vehicles within the next three years, then accounting for 6% of their respective fleets. The consortium consists of a number of Spanish companies, operating in the field of food & beverage distribution, construction, delivery, telecommunication and other services, who have conjointly declared their commitment to increase the percentage of cleaner vehicles, such as natural gas vehicles ((NGVs), in their motor pool.In line with this significant achievement, NGVA Europe member IVECO recently announced it will supply cleaning services fleet owners in Barcelona, Spain, with over 370 CNG light, medium and heavy vehicles. Consequently, city cleaning will be done exclusively by NGVs once the municipality of Barcelona has incorporated all IVECO CNG vehicles.
The forum, formed one year ago by the Environmental Agency of the Madrid Municipality, was designed to be an exchange platform for environmental innovation ideas and also for developing new ways of pollution control. The forum is an initiative of the City of Madrid and is open to companies that would like to play a role in the fight against atmospheric pollution and push Madrid to a more sustainable development.
