Acotral's LNG-powered MB Econic tractor

Mercedes-Benz has delivered to Compañía Logística Acotral, S.A., inter-providore for Spain’s largest supermarket operator, Mercadona, an Econic GNL — purportedly the first LNG-powered tractor in Spain. Initially, this truck will be used to transport goods to the company’s logistics base, before being incorporated into the distribution channel for urban supermarkets.  Acotral anticipates achieving a storehouse delivery range of between 800 km and 1,000 km per fill.

Mercedes-Benz says the EEV-compliant LNG Econic model offers a number of advantages over diesel powered vehicles along with lower fuel costs. Emissions of gaseous pollutants and greenhouse gases are lower than conventional diesel by 20%, while noise pollution is reduced by 3 to 6 db.
