Saab 9.3 SportsKombi Sweden Trifuel now available for orders.
Saab has finally launched its new Saab Trifuel on the STCC motor-racing track in Gothenburg. First presented as a prototype in October 2009, the vehicle is capable of running on methane, ethanol or gasoline. The new model has survived Saab’s takeover by Spyker Cars NV to emerge as a strong contender in Sweden’s natural gas vehicle market, and the company hopes it will soon be adopted as one of its regular fleet.
“In a first phase, a hundred cars are to be produced. 82 of them are already sold to municipalities in Västra Götaland”, said Kenth Johansson of Saab Powertrain. “Within a year I think we sell a few thousand Trifuel cars a year,” Johansson added in a Business Region Goteburg report.
The trifuel car produces 175 horsepower using gas or ethanol, and 150 hp using gasoline.
