IVECO natural gas engines have been chosen by Spanish manufacturer TEM
Gorris to power a new range of airport handling machinery. The company
exhibited an ultra-low emission luggage tractor recently at the Inter
Airport Fair in Munich.
The tractor has a combined payload of 6,000 lb at the draw-bar and
is propelled by an hydrostatic transmission. The gas engine is the
IVECO 8149 series type, four cylinder naturally aspirated, rated
at 106 HP, multi-point gas injection, stoichiometric mixture combustion
system and 3-way catalyst that improve substantially E.E.V. limits
(Enhanced Environmental Vehicle), considerably lower than Euro 4 and 5
limits. The stoichiometric combustion system was chosen as it has
proved to be the cleanest and most efficient system for urban use.
Other compressed natural gas (CNG) equipment in the range, all powered
by Iveco engines, includes towed and self-propelled GPUs,
self-propelled luggage belts and scales, and aircraft 16,000 lb DBP
tractors, etc.
Iveco is enjoying increasing success with its CNG range in recent
months, receiving orders totalling 80 CNG powered garbage trucks for
France, Italy and Spain and 400 CNG buses for Italy.
