Two-stroke CNG conversion pilot project in Karachi
700 compressed natural gas (CNG) rickshaws are on the road in Lahore with as many as 5,000 expected on the roads by the end of this year.  International News Pakistan reports that the Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) had distributed funding for the rickshaws under a provincial Green Fund Programme totaling Rs50 million (US$830,000).

The report also says the scheme will be extended to Gujranwala.
Meanwhile in Karachi the local Taxi & Motor Rickshaw Owners Association (KTMRA) is participating in a pilot program converting two-stroke gasoline rickshaws to four-stroke CNG. In a separate report International News Pakistan says the program supported by the state government involves the installation of 175cc Bajaj engines on older chassis.
