PetroChina Plans LNG Facility and Fuelling Stations for Lhasa, Tibet

August 28, 2010 | China, Beijing

PetroChina Co. Ltd plans to build a 300 million yuan (USD 44.1 million) liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility in western China to supply Tibet, according to parent China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC)’s news site.  The project, scheduled to be operational by October 2011, will include as a third stage an unspecified number of gas stations in the Tibetan capital Lhasa, serviced by a 38 kilometer gas grid. CNPC says that once the Lhasa project is completed, LNG supply will be extended to other Tibetan regions.

Item primarily compiled using information from a CNPC press release.
