Peru’s cities of Lima and Callao are expected to increase the number of natural gas fuelling stations from the 94 recorded at end 2009 to 130 by the end of this year, according to the general manager of the Peruvian Chamber of NGV (CPGNV), Jorge Juarez. “Right now there are 30 Gasocentro under construction, so we consider it feasible to have 130 stations by year’s end,” he told Andina news agency.
He also spoke of an expected increase of natural gas vehicles, from the 2009 figure of 81,024 to about 115 thousand vehicles.
The 100th station, located in the district of La Victoria has received a commemorative certificate from the Supervisory Agency for Investment in Energy and Mining (Osinergmin). 103 stations are now in operation, each capable of serving about 900 vehicles per day, the report said.
