Pat Murphy, president, Linde North America, has been named chairman of the Compressed Gas Association (CGA)’s Board of Directors. Murphy was unanimously elected to the one year position, which runs through April 2009. He will preside over the CGA’s Board, whose responsibilities include overseeing the work of the CGA, setting its priorities and approving its budget. Murphy has been a member of the CGA Board since 1994. He served two previous terms as chairman in 1997 and 1998.
Murphy has worked in the industrial gases industry since 1979, when he joined AGA Gas, which was later acquired by Linde. At AGA, Murphy he held a variety of roles, including president and managing director of the North American region. Following Linde’s 2006 acquisition of BOC, Murphy was named president of the newly combined BOC and Linde business in North America.
Murphy is a graduate of Purdue University and holds a Bachelor’s in Engineering. He has completed the Harvard University’s Advanced Management Program and the Swedish Institute of Management’s Training for International Operations.
