Omnitek Releases Longlife Spark Plugs for CNG Engines

August 23, 2007

ImageUSA, California

Californian developer of natural gas engine systems, Omnitek Engineering is introducing longlife spark plugs specifically designed for the demanding conditions found in natural gas engines. The spark plugs feature a center electrode made of Iridium, and a Yttrium enhanced ground electrode. Iridium and Yttrium are extremely resistant to erosion, which Omnitek says guarantees a virtually unchanged electrode gap for the life of the spark plug.

Primary applications are turbocharged natural gas engines where ignition requirements are at their most extreme and a long service life is desired. Wear resistant Iridium/Yttrium electrodes apparently offer reduced voltage requirement and reduced gap wear which Omnitek says increases service life, improves combustion characteristics and lowers susceptibility to misfires. The spark plugs have a factory pre-set electrode gap.
