NGV Sales Momentum Continues in Singapore

September 17, 2009 | Singapore

Singapore’s Land Transport Authority has released end-August sales figures for 2009,  for ‘Motor Vehicle Population by Type of Fuel Used’ which clearly depicts the growth in numbers of CNG-fuelled taxis and cars in the country. From 977 bi-fuelled or CNG-fuelled taxis at end 2008, the number now stands at 1,656 –  an almost 70% increase. Growth for cars has not been so dramatic, and although 2009 growth to date has been slow due to economic pressures, the increase in availability of CNG-fueling stations is likely to stimulate a new growth phase. From 2,444 bi-fuelled or CNG-fuelled cars at end 2008, the number has grown to 2,656, 8.7% up over the past eight months.
