2009 CSA Personal Award of Distinction for Hank Seiff & Livio Gambone
CSA Standards in the United States has recognized NGV industry leaders as part of their 3rd Annual CSA Standards Awards for Outstanding Achievement. IANGV Sponsor Swagelok Company received corporate recognition while long servingĀ industry members, Hank Seiff, retired, and Livio Gambone of Powertech Labs were awarded Personal Awards of Distinction, CSA Standards’ most prestigious award honoring “remarkable leadership within CSA’s standards program over the tenure of an individual’s service, through technical, administrative, or special standards activities”. CSA Standards is a leading standards-based solutions organization serving industry, government, consumers and other interested parties in North America and the global marketplace.
The CSA press release says a Corporate Award of Merit was presented by CSA to Swagelok Company for “outstanding achievement by a participating company or organization based on a high level of involvement in CSA’s standards programs”.
Swagelok Company has been actively participating in CSA standards development activities since the early 1990′s. The company is represented on all alternative energy TAGs – an extraordinary resource commitment. Swagelok representatives are also involved at high levels in the International Association of Natural Gas Vehicles, participating in the IANGV sponsorship program and on various ISO committees and groups. Swagelok is a regular voice at industry conferences and meetings, advocating the importance of standards in bringing new technologies to market and helping with the globalization of products.
Hank Seiff has led the movement for a set of comprehensive safety standards for natural gas vehicles and associated infrastructure for more than 10 years. A steadfast supporter of CSA’s programs, he has found the required funding and the right people to influence standards development in the interests of safety. He has presented both nationally and internationally on the standards development process and the need for continued support. His attention to detail and astute queries have enabled CSA Standards to publish documents of absolute rigor and clarity. Mr. Seiff was most recently the Director of Technology at the Clean Vehicle Education Foundation and has since retired.
Livio Gambone has been an essential part of Powertech’s contributions to CSA Standards activity since 1990, a constant supporter of CSA, and a passionate advocate for safety standards. He has chaired two Technical Advisory Groups, participated as a member of several others, and is always generous with his technical expertise. He has been invaluable as a stakeholder liaison, sharing standard developments with industry and coordinating industry response. Mr. Gambone has been very active internationally, with SAE, a global engineering association, and other groups, adding to the prestige and influence of the TAG’s on the world stage. He is the Canadian delegate for several international ISO standards working groups and is the author of numerous technical reports in his field. He works as Manger, Vehicle Programs at Powertech Labs.
