August 29, 2005

Opel is to reveal
its next generation CNG Zafira, the Zafira B, at the Frankfurt Motor
Show in Germany next month, ahead of a Spring 2006 release. A petrol
version of the Zafira B was released earlier this year.

The CNG Zafira B sports a 1.6 litre Monovalentplus
engine, optimised for CNG but operable on petrol via a small 14 litre
reserve tank when CNG on board the vehicle has run out.  Compared
to the original CNG Zafira, designers have increased CNG fuel storage
by more than 10%, to 21 kgs, increasing the CNG driving range from 300
kms to 385 kms (540 kms including the petrol reserve tank).

The
CNG Zafira B also delivers Euro 4 emissions, an improvement on the Euro
3 results of the original model, which has sold 20,000 units since its
original release in 1999. Compared to the petrol version, the CNG
Zafira B also delivers a 17% reduction in CO2 emissions.
