The European ‘blue corridor’ received additional support through the creation of a new NGV association in Luxembourg, partially modelled after Erdgasmobile in Germany.
The new association, Lëtzebuerg gët Gas has an impressive group of founding members, including one gas transmission company, four gas distribution companies, ARAL, the main car distributors, ROTAREX and the Automobile clubs in Luxembourg.
SUDGAZ had opened the first private CNG stations for buses in 1995 that now fuels 25 CNG buses. The aim of Lëtzebuerg gët Gas is to increase the number of public stations (there currently are two ARAL stations in Luxembourg City), and to motivate and help the car distributors to sell factory-built NGVs. Such involvement adds to the growing chain of CNG fuelling stations that is occurring between Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany and Sweden.
