Natural Gas Champion Honoured for 2009 Public Affairs Campaign of the Year

April 1, 2009

USA

T. Boone Pickens

T. Boone Pickens, creator of the Picken’s Plan, has been honoured by the American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC) for the best Public Affairs Campaign of the Year. HBO’s “Real Time” host Bill Maher announced the award via satellite and praised Pickens for his diligence and willingness to put aside political partisanship for the sake of achieving critical energy goals. The Pickens Plan, which promotes utilization of America’s clean natural gas and wind resources to reduce dependency on foreign oil, also won awards in several smaller categories, including best volunteer recruitment strategy.

“This entry went to the point of our work”, said Tony Fazio, AAPC President. “It was clean, professional, unique and successful in capturing what we endeavor to do: produce creative work that cuts through the clutter of all the messages out there.” The AAPC is a multi-partisan trade association with over 2,500 members from all fifty states, territories and other countries. Membership reflects a wide range of ideologies, partisan affiliations, and professional specialties, and includes students and academics.
