Malaysia’s SKS Buys 14 Natural Gas Buses; Full Fleet Replacement Planned By 2011

June 25, 2009

Malaysia, Seremban

In a step toward the company’s goal of only using natural gas buses by 2011, Sistem Kenderaan Seremban – Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd (SKS) is reported to be investing RM8.4 million (USD 2.37 million) to buy 14 natural gas-powered buses this year. SKS’s manager, Rosli Ramlan, said eight NGV buses started operating this month and the other six were under assembly and would be ready in stages. Added to the 11 natural gas buses that have been in operation since May 2008, the natural gas buses will account for more than a third of the current fleet of 69. Since 1977 SKS has operated the Seremban-Kuala Lumpur-Seremban route, using the North-South Expressway. Seremban is capital of the Malaysian state of Negeri Sembilan.
