Chinese manufacturer of vehicles and engines, Lifan Motors, has reportedly signed a strategic alliance with the Peruvian group Altos Andes to bring the first Bi-fuel (CNG-Petrol) vehicle factory to Peru. The decision to invest in Peru was due in large part to the Government support for the use of Natural Gas Vehicles (NGVs) as an economical alternative to traditional fuels such as petrol and diesel.
As reported in RPP
Lifan will introduce its Lifan 520 model to the Peruvian market. The
model has shown increased demand in various markets in the world, as a
compact family-oriented sedan. It will be priced for easy access to the
vast majority of Peruvians, explained the representative of the brand
in Peru.
The Lifan 520 comes in the following versions: Gasoline engine of 1.3
and 1.6 litre engine and Dual GNV Original Factory 1.3 and 1.6 liters.
Lifan cars can also be purchased through the ‘Carga Inteligente’ (Chip)
system which has been established by Cofide. Under this scheme, the user pays for the vehicle every time they pruchase fuel. This system is
targeted toward persons engaged in taxi services as they travel an
average of 250km per day.
Altos Andes hopes to sell nearly 800 units in its first year of operation.
