Indonesia, Jakarta
Jakarta’s
Governor Sutiyoso has sealed the next stage of Jakarta’s NGV program,
following the signing on Friday of an MOU with state owned gas supplier
PT Pertamina and distributor Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN).
The MOU effectively guarantees gas supply for several CNG refuelling
stations including those which will service a new busway project to be
established before the end of the year.
Prior to the signing, Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Fauzi Bowo, appointed
the Department of Jakarta Assets as the team leader to coordinate a
recently endorsed CNG Action plan, with instructions to move quickly to
make the project a reality.
Investors are believed to have presented proposals for both the
establishment of the busway refuelling sites and the supply and
operation of CNG buses on the routes. With the supply of natural gas
now guaranteed, busway contracts are expected to be issued soon.
The sites will also be accessible for other public and private
transport operators. With the price of petrol at 2,400 Indonesian
Rupiah ($US0.25) per litre and CNG at Rp 1,550 ($US0.16) per litre
equivalent, taxi operators have been asking the government to move
quickly to put CNG pump stations into Jakarta.
