Directors of the Indian Oil Corporation Research and Development (IOC
R&D) and Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) have signed an MOU on the
development of hydrogen and CNG for transport and other applications.
The MOU was one of six relating to the hydrocarbon sector signed
between the two countries at last week’s Asian Oil Ministers meeting in
Korea.
The MOU outlines cooperation in the following areas:
1. H2-CNG project feasibility study for Korea
2. Safety regulations on CNG vehicles
3. Development of Natural Gas reformers for hydrogen production.
IOC and KIST/KOGAS shall share/provide mutual training to each other’s
scientists, provide faculty from each other’s side for the respective
training programmes for scientists and allow exchange of scientists
between the two parties to share and participate in defined research
projects.
Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) is the world’s largest LNG importer,
operating three LNG terminals and a nationwide pipeline network
spanning 2,579 km ensuring a stable supply for the nation.
Another of the MOUs covers the research and development of hydrogen fuel cells.
