| Reva’s first fuel cell vehicle, first unveiled in 2004 |
India could be set to take the express route along the hydrogen highway following the establishment of a joint initiative between the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and Reva Electric Car Company.
Indian media sources report that the two companies have signed a letter of intent, committing Reva to build two next generation fuel cell vehicles for IOC to use in a pilot project relating to hydrogen refueling infrastructure. Reva unveiled their first generation FCV almost a year ago and will build the next vehicles using Canadian made Hydrogenics fuel cells. The first vehicle is due to be delivered within the next six months.
One source reports that IOC plans to establish infrastructure to support as many as 1000 fuel cell vehicles in Delhi and surrounding areas by 2008.
