IKCO's record-breaking bi-fuel production line

Iranian automaker Iran Khodro Industrial Group, the country’s largest auto manufacturer, says it has produced 103,248 units of different types of bi-fuel passenger cars and pickups in the first quarter of Iranian calendar year (March 21 to June 21, 2010) — an increase of 110.3% in this field over last year.

Similarly, in the third month of the current Iranian calendar year (May 21-June 21), 47,592 units of various bi-fuel passenger cars and pick-ups were produced in Iran, which shows an increase of 95.6 percent over the same period last year.

With an increase of 233 percent, Iran Khodro Industrial Group’s bi-fuel products ran up to 65,629 units in the first quarter. IKCO manufactured 27,281 units of bi-fuels from May 21 to June 21, 183 percent more than the same period last year.

The upward trend for bi-fuel vehicle production was also recorded by SAIPA, Iran’s second car manufacturer, which produced 23,720 units of bi-fuel cars over the same three month period — a 48.8% increase, and Pars Khodro, which made 11,011 units — a 195%.
