IEV Launches Virtual Pipeline in Indonesia – Targeting Taxis

July 16, 2008

Indonesia, Cikarang

Malaysian based IEV Group Sdn Bhd has inaugurated their first compressed natural gas (CNG) plant in Cikarang, east of Jakarta, earlier this month. The plant is to supply fuel via ‘virtual pipelines’ for use in a mix of industrial, power generation and transport supply applications. IEV Group CEO says the plant, built for $US10 million and with a capacity of 5 million standard cubic feet per day (scf), can supply CNG for less than half the price of petrol.  A company representative has confirmed that they are currently undergoing feasibility studies with a number of taxi operators with a view to supplying CNG for taxi fleets and public mini vans. The business plan also includes provision for conversion funding assistance for fleet operators.
