Honda Brings CNG Civic GX to the Masses

April 12, 2005

 The 2005 CNG Honda Civic GX <br /><span id=

Honda in the US have released their 2005 model CNG Civic GX, making the
GX more widely available to the general public. First released
in 1998, the Civic GX has only been marketed to fleet operators up
until now. Californian drivers will be the first private motorists to
have access to the Civic/Phill combination with plans underway to make it available in other US
states.

The 2005 model is the first to be made available with ‘Phill’, a
refueling appliance giving owners the option of refuelling their
vehicle from home (see NGV Global, 2 March).

The Civic GX has been enjoying a high profile in the past 2 months,
starting with the announcement in February that the car has retained
its crown as "America’s Greenest Car" by the American Council for an
Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE). The Civic GX is a regular winner of
the ACEEE 12 vehicle list, which this year included 4 gasoline/hybrid
vehicles.

The 2005 GX has been certified as AT-PZEV (almost zero emissions) by
the Californian Air Resources Board (CARB). With Californian standards
widely recognised as the toughest in the world, the Civic GX also holds
on to the ‘cleanest internal combustion vehicle in the world’ title.

Continuing the environmental theme, a Civic GX Civic is currently
providing support for bicycle riders carrying a ‘Peace, Youth and
Environment’ message of hope from the Mayor of Salt Lake City to the
Mayor of Torino, Italy.

LA World Airports, already owners of the Civic GX, announced last week
that they are to purchase 17 more for use at Los Angeles and Ontario
Airports.
