The provincial authority of Friesland (Fryslân) in the north of the Netherlands has made an environmental statement on behalf of its community, by announcing its intention to replace 27 diesel vehicles with Volkswagen natural gas powered Caddy EcoFuels. According to GAVE news, in 2010 another 24 cars are also due to be replaced, bringing the total to 51. Last year the authority purchased six natural gas Fiat Puntos, for use by the Environment department. The number of vehicles is expected to increase as refuelling infrastructure grows, with six stations already operating, and three more in planning stages.
