The HAM facility at Torremocha del Campo.
Spain’s HAM Group, a liquid natural gas (LNG) distributor and transport company, continues its commitment to the provision of natural gas filling stations with planning underway for four more facilities in the new year. An agreement for a station near the Autovia A-2 (Madrid-Barcelona) in the municipality of Igualada has been signed, and negotiations are progressing for stations at Tarragona and La Jonquera. A fourth station is planned for Zaragoza in northern Spain. All are intended to be operational in the first half of 2011.
HAM sees LNG as the fuel of the future for road transport, for mono-fuel or dual-fuel (LNG-diesel) vehicles. The company opened a CNG/LNG filling station, HAM Abrera, in the municipality of L’Hospitalet Abrera, also on the A-2, in March 2009 and another, HAM Ctra Del mig # 36, in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat in June 2010.
Two more 24 hour filling stations were opened in November this year. The first, a CNG/LNG facility, was opened in the municipality of Torremocha del Campo, on the A-2 about 117 km from Madrid and 500 km from Barcelona. The other, HAM Sant Sadurní, is a CNG only self-service facility located very close to the AP-7 motorway (Barcelona-Madrid / Barcelona-Valencia).
Both La Jonquera and Zaragoza facilities will dispense CNG and LNG.
HAM has adopted a model of locating dispensers close to existing petrol stations, to allow motorists to take advantage of customers services such as shops and restaurants.
