Gazprom Moots CNG Corridor to Poland

February 9, 2011 | Source: wnp.pl | Poland

Gazprom has raised the possibility of a compressed natural gas (CNG) corridor, to run from Moscow to Kaliningrad on Poland’s north-eastern border, reports wnp.pl. The subject was reportedly discussed during a recent visit by President Medvedev and government officials to the region. Additionally Gazprom has expressed interest in the further development of Poland’s natural gas fuelling infrastructure, currently comprising 34 filling stations.  Poland’s director of the department of oil and gas in the Ministry of Economy, Maciej Kalisz, said the proposed a CNG corridor would facilitate the flow of natural-gas powered traffic along this route and also suggested the corridor could be extended to other European countries.
