Four Xebex Biogas Upgrading Systems Headed for Europe

May 26, 2010 | Canada, Austria, France

Canadian company Xebec Adsorption Inc. (Xebec), a provider of biogas upgrading, natural gas and hydrogen purification solutions for the clean energy market, has signed new European contracts for four biogas upgrading systems – one located at a project in Southern France and three other systems in Austria.

The French contract initially is for a demonstration project in which landfill gas will be upgraded to make compressed natural gas (CNG) for vehicle fuel use. One of the new Austrian applications is for a waste disposal plant where the biogas will be upgraded to CNG for fuelling of refuse trucks. The other two projects are at wastewater treatment works where the biogas will be upgraded to biomethane for injection into the gas grid.

Kurt Sorschak, Xebec President and CEO said, “Recent studies show that low carbon ‘green’ gas can easily substitute for as much as 10 to 15 percent of total natural gas applications because it can be injected, distributed and sold at a premium for use in traditional ways.”

Commissioning and start-up of the upgrading plants is expected to take place in the latter half of 2010.
