Fiat Achieves ‘Best Relative Improvement’ for Sustainability Within Automotive Sector

February 5, 2010 | Italy, Turin

Fiat SpA has received the Sector Mover and Gold Class distinctions from SAM, the Zurich-based sustainability-focused investment group which analyses the 2,500 largest quoted companies globally to determine their eligibility for inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability indexes. For 2009, Fiat was best relative improvement in sustainability performance within the Automobile sector (SAM Sector Mover) and the gap with the sector leader is less than 5% (SAM Gold Class).

Included in Fiat’s model line up are seven CNG fuelled cars, seven CNG light commercial vehicles and a range of heavy-duty natural gas trucks and buses in the IVECO brand.

In September, Fiat had been recognised by SAM as a leader in Sustainability with a score of 90/100 and entry to the prestigious Dow Jones Sustainability World and Dow Jones Sustainability STOXX indexes, which only admit companies evaluated as best-in-class in the management of their businesses from an economic, as well as social and environmental point of view.
