FAW LNG Buses Run on Dalian Roads

September 3, 2010 | China, Dalian

FAW Dalian Bus Factory designs new LNG models

LNG wharf in Dalian completed; PetroChina to diversify into LNG

New LNG bus models, the  CA6112URN31 and CA6890URN31 developed by FAW Dalian Bus Factory, have been supplied to the city of Dalian in China’s northeast. The first batch of 71 LNG buses has been delivered to Dalian Suntong and Zhongshan Company, two city public transport companies. Another 110 LNG buses will be handed over later this year.

FAW says in its press release that the power performance and fuel economy of the two models are in the leading position in China. Compared with the same power diesel buses, emission of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides of the above-said LNG buses are reduced 80%, 60% and 70% respectively, while their operation costs are 5 -10% lower than that of diesel buses. Since the antiknock quality of the LNG is better than the normal fuel, customers may highly reduce the repair times of the engine.

FAW Dalian Bus Factory is a wholly owned subsidiary of FAW Group, a global manufacturer of quality passenger cars, commercial trucks, and buses. Established in 1953, the company is China’s oldest and largest automotive group. Annual sales exceed one million units.

According to a report carried by China Petroleum Daily, PetroChina Co Ltd has completed construction of its first LNG wharf in Dalian. The company is expected to sell its 75 percent stake in the project to Kunlun Energy, a company controlled by PetroChina, and is diversifying its business from oil exploration into LNG supply, vehicle fuel gas and city gas.
