Europe’s First Mainland Liquid Biogas Refuelling Station Takes Shape

August 30, 2009 | Source: Gasworld | Sweden, Sundsvall

AGA Gas AB is building what is claimed to be Europe’s first mainland liquid to compressed biogas (LCBG) refuelling station in the city of Sundsvall, Sweden, with Cryostar providing some cryogenic equipment. AGA Gas owns and operates the station which will have a capacity of 530 Nm3/h. Located near a major highway, the station is expected to supply fuel to a large number of vehicles.

The project was first announced late in 2008 and work started on the station on 1st July. MittSverige Vatten, a wastewater purifying company that purifies 20.6 million cubic meters of wastewater per year using 46 treatment plants, will supply the liquefied biomethane.

Cryostar has been participating on the project by supplying its Modular Reciprocating Pump (MRP), the line control system, and the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) control panel for the whole station.

Referred to in the UK as liquid biomethane (LBM) liquid to compressed natural gas refuelling operations first commenced in Surrey in June 2008.
