Peru’s Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) has announced that the Falabella Bank is to provide funding for motorists converting vehicles to operate on natural gas. Other banks already in the program include BBVA Banco Continental and Scotiabank. Andina reports that the announcement was made by the Ministry’s Director General of Hydrocarbons, Gustavo Navarro. Navarro said that funding supplied under the Development Finance Corporation’s (Cofide) Cofigas program has played an important role in getting more than 39000 vehicles using natural gas in Lima and Callao. The NGV industry has grown rapidly in the past two years and Peru currently has 39 refuelling stations, 109 conversion workshops and four certifiers.
